I want to take the opportunity to say how appreciative and thankful I am to have been awarded this scholarship from the Lisle Alumni.
This fall, I plan to attend Wartburg College and major in Economics and Music. During my time at Wartburg, one of my aspirations is to spend a semester abroad to study music composition in Europe and be able to learn from experienced classical musicians and composers. Eventually, I would like to compose original music and contribute my works to the classical canon. I am most proud of how hard I worked to advance and improve my Horn skills which enabled me to try out for and be accepted into and perform with the Naperville Youth Symphony Orchestra from my sophomore through Senior year. Out of all my teachers, my Algebra 2 teacher, Mr. Eric Woyna, inspired me most during my time at Lisle. I appreciated his patience, mentorship, and his passion for teaching. He also took the time to talk to me about the importance of organization, time management and planning. I will carry these lessons forward with me as I get ready to start college in the fall. I want to tell the alumni that I was so proud to be the recipient of the Steve Green Musical Achievement Scholarship. Music has been such an important part of my life since I was very young and the recognition and acknowledgement of all my passion and hard work by the Alumni was so meaningful to me. This scholarship will be incredibly helpful in funding my first study abroad during my freshman year as I tour eleven European countries with the Wartburg Wind Ensemble in May 2022. It will be an unforgettable experience as I will also get to tour with my sister, Eva Schoell, who was the 2019 scholarship winner. Thank you so much for providing this award, I will forever be grateful for the opportunities and experiences that LHS provided to me during my time here. I will be attending Bradley University in the fall majoring in child development from birth-2nd grade with an ESL endorsement.
I want to be able to go out into the real world and survive on my own, I also want to thrive in college. I am most proud of going to state for cheerleading in 2020. Mr. M (Yousef Matariyeh) was the most influential teacher to me, he helped me find who I was and how to communicate better. I am so honored for this award; I wasn't expecting it at all and I couldn't be happier. Lilian Beyer Ron Logeman Educational Leadership Award Please consider supporting the CNF Scholarship Fund
Carlin Nalley Foundation,
Thank you so much for awarding me with the Brian Piccolo scholarship award. I am so grateful to have my name attached to such a prestigious award. I would also like to thank my teammates as well as my coaches, particularly Coach Parpet and Coach LaScala. Both men were here for me and my family in our most troubling times, and were very influential teachers for me during my time in their programs. My most influential moment at Lisle was the end of the 2019-2020 basketball season, where we won the inaugural conference title in the new ICE conference. Every game during that stretch was important, and the celebration afterward was triumphant. Next year, I will be attending the University of Iowa and majoring in business, with the hopes of one day leading a company. Once again, I would like to express my gratitude for winning this award. I consider it one of the biggest achievements of my life and an excellent culmination of my high school sports career. I will be attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and studying biochemistry. I hope to go to medical school and specialize in pediatric dermatology after completing my bachelor’s degree.
I am most proud of my Clover Holder invention that I made in Intro to Engineering. Our objective was to create a useful product that had never been made before. In addition, we also had to publish a website and present a product proposal. This project pushed me to take the creative route and taught me how to take the initiative. With no prior experience in engineering and 3D printing, I never thought that I’d be able to operate a computer program and design my own unique product. Even though I encountered many technical difficulties, the process of creating felt thrilling. This experience has encouraged me to sample new ventures; I’m so excited to explore everything that life has to offer. The science teachers at LHS have all played an essential role in nurturing my love for science. Specifically, Mr. Lascala had the greatest impact on me. He has such a strong passion for teaching, offering the utmost support to each and every one of students. I took Mr. Lascala’s honors bio and AP bio class; every day, I looked forward to learning about the delicate processes that give life. He opened my eyes to the possibilities of science, and he provided me and other students many unforgettable experiences. From collecting plant samples at Treehaven, to observing the cell cycle underneath a microscope, I thoroughly enjoyed each and every moment of hands-on learning. Mr. Lascala always does his best to make his class engaging while cultivating a calming learning environment. He is such an understanding and considerate teacher, and I am so grateful to have been a part of his class. His classes are one of the main reasons that I decided to pursue a degree in biochemistry. To the Lisle Alumni: thank you. When I found out that I was the recipient of this scholarship, I felt so overjoyed. I'm truly grateful for all the help you have given me. Receiving this scholarship has opened incredible opportunities for me and other students to continue our education and pursue our dreams. I will continue to work my hardest at U of I and in the far-off future knowing that I have the support of such an incredible community. Thank you again! Thank you for this amazing opportunity.
After graduation I plan on finishing my cosmetology hours at COD. And will plan on studying cosmetology to color hair. I want to be able to accomplish being a colorist on the floor at a salon. While studying at Lisle High School I am most proud of being able to go into TCD and become student of the month. Along with getting the Ralph King scholarship Mrs. Sanko and Mr. Bamboat were the most influential faculty for me. I have known Mr. Bamboat all four years of high school. Even though I never took any of his classes, he was my tennis coach and we had a very special bond. He helped me through a lot of my family and home life. Now Mrs. Sanko I only had for one year. She is one of the best teachers I’ve ever had. She taught super well and made sure everyone knew what they were doing. Even when they didn’t want to do any of the work she still managed to find a way to teach them. I’m just very proud that I was able to earn such an amazing award. In the fall of 2021, I will be attending the Florida Institute of Technology (Florida Tech) to study Human Factors and Safety in Aviation with Flight Training. I have already begun my Private Pilot’s license here in Chicago to get ahead and will go all the way to being a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) by the time I have completed my education at Florida Tech. In addition to completing a degree at Florida Tech, I plan on attending the fire academy and paramedic school.
After my time at Florida Tech, I would Like to fly fixed-wing medevac jets for a university hospital or a government agency. I would also like to continue being involved in the Fire Department as a part-time firefighter and paramedic since I have been involved in the fire department my whole life. The accomplishment I am most proud of is getting my Illinois Seal of Spanish Biliteracy. This was a combination of working hard since 8th grade to get a year ahead in Spanish to become well enough versed in the language to pass the state test. To pass this test I had to study to get an advanced rating on all portions of a Spanish test including writing, speaking, listening, and reading. In addition to proving I was proficient in all aspects of Spanish I also had to score well on the English portion of my SAT. This was a goal I had my sights set on from the day I tested into Spanish II as a freshman and after two hard years of high school Spanish, I achieved my Illinois Seal of Spanish Biliteracy in March of my junior year. Senorita Amy Renguso was and still is my most influential teacher for me during my time at Lisle Senior High School. The reason for this is she never gave up on me even when I wanted to quit on myself. There were times during Spanish III Honors that I wasn’t getting a concept and for four mornings in one week she came in early and met with me before the test and wouldn’t let me fail. The same thing happened in her new class this year Spanish V Honors, which is a Spanish linguistics class for post-AP Spanish Students. Linguistics was a whole new beast for me, and I had a rather rocky start. She kept meeting with me on Google Meets before school and after school to make sure I didn’t fall behind. Not only did she support me with scholastic items within the classroom, but she also supported me with outside school issues. There were plenty of times where I would go into her room before class, and she would be a person for me just to get something off my chest. Sometimes she didn’t even wait for me to approach her, rather she initiated the conversation because she noticed I was not acting like myself. I looked forward to going to her class every single day. I cannot speak highly enough of Senorita Amy Renguso and she will be one of the teachers I will miss the most. I would like to thank the Lisle Alumni who have generously supported this scholarship program. It is an honor to be supported by past Lisle students who have been in my shoe’s years before me. Furthermore, as a third generation Lisle Senior High graduate it is an honor be awarded this legacy award. It is special to be able to graduate from the same high school as my grandmother, grandfather, uncles, and mom. This award will go to good use supporting me during my time at the Florida Institute of Technology and I cannot thank the supporters of this scholarship program enough for their commitment to my future education. As of this year, I am graduating from Lisle High School and going to Luther College in Iowa. At Luther College I will be studying nursing and my hope is that after college I can take the responsibility of working as an ER nurse. My most proud achievement was receiving the Pride of Lions Award in English from my school. This is for excellence presented by the school and a teacher of that department who picks the candidate themselves. I would like to say thank you for this opportunity. This scholarship can help me pursue my goals in the future of the medical field and help me succeed in achieving my goals. I am honored to receive this award.
A teacher I’d like to recognize is Mr. Stellmacher, my choral teacher. He was the one who originally encouraged me to going to Luther. Fiona Bennett Fiore Scholarship: Beverly Fiore Award: Outstanding Thespian Please consider supporting the CNF Scholarship Fund
Thank you so much for this recognition!
1. I am going to Colorado State University where I will study Health and Exercise Science 2. I hope to get my masters with the plan to work in either occupational or physical therapy and help other athletes get back to their top performance. 3. During my time at lisle I am proud of what I was able to accomplish both in the classroom and on the field. I worked hard to maintain honor roll throughout all of high school and obtained my seal of biliteracy. In athletics, reaching the state tournament and going undefeated in both basketball and soccer were 3 of my high points. 4. The most influential teacher throughout my high school journey was Srta. Renguso because she never gave up on me and pushed me to excel in areas, I did not think I could. Through her encouragement, I was able to achieve my seal of biliteracy. 5. I have always been a competitive person, and athletics have always been an extremely important part of my life. I am proud to represent what this award means, which is not only commitment and teamwork on the field, but the importance of academics off the field as well. Thanks again, and if you need anything else please let me know!
