2015 Alumni Night -- Lisle High School Veterans Recognized During Ceremony of Lisle-Hersher Football Game
In conjunction with the all alumni Lisle-Herscher Football game Friday Night, October 9th, at Benedictine University (5700 College Road in Lisle), Lisle High School alumni who served in the United States Armed Services Veterans & active duty members were honored during the pre-game ceremony. The Carlin Nalley Foundation and Lisle High School are collaborating on the event to acknowledge the huge continuing contributions that graduates of Lisle High School have made to the US Military over the last 57 years.
All Armed Services Active & Veterans (without exception) were admitted to the game at no charge. The honorees came onto the field prior to the varsity game kickoff where a tribute payed and thanking them for their service. At halftime, there was a special ceremony to honor the five Lisle Alumni Veterans who have fallen in service of the United States. “Over the course of the last year, Lisle Senior High School and District 202 have renewed efforts to recognize and remember those members of our Lisle family who have given their lives for their country. We are grateful to partner with the Carlin Nalley Foundation to honor all the men and women of our armed services and those Lisle alums who have made the extreme sacrifice,” said Jeffrey Howard, Principal Lisle Senior High School The Carlin Naley Foundation sponsored the event in conjunction with the Alumni Night football game. “Over the summer at a meeting with the Mr. Dillard, LHS Principal Jeff Howard, and District 202 Superintendent Keith Filipiak, Jay Grochowski (co-founder and past president of the Carlin Nalley Foundation) and I agreed that we would collaborate with Lisle High School on an Alumni Night at a fall football game. We wanted to build off the tremendously successful event we partnered with in 2013. We recognized Lisle’s first champions the 1963 football team, honored some of Lisle's most successful athletes, sports teams, and veterans in conjunction with our third All Years Reunion. The focus for 2015 is honoring a specific group of these Lisle heroes: our armed services veterans, explained John Bartels President of the Carlin Nalley Foundation.” |
A moving tribute to the 5 Lisle Alumni lost in military service of the United States. The ceremony was performed by the Lisle High School band under the direction of Scott Gumina. Alumni Night, Lisle/Herscher Football game, October 9th, 2015.
