How Do I Register?
Simple Go to www.carlinnalleyfoundation.org and you’ll see all the info for Rockin’ the Foundation. Click, register, and pay….All right there. PLUS, you do us a big favor so we can plan food, libations, and staffing accordingly. If you don’t want to pay on line there’s a form to download, fill-out and mail in.
Can I Pay at the Door?
Yep…you can pay at the door. Adds a little time to the registration process, but we will be glad to see you so c’mon down. It does cost a little more at the door, since we have to pay a little more and predict how many walk ups, so please register in advance..
What’s the Dress Code?
Short of birthday suits, none. We’ve seen tuxes, to cut-offs. Def Leppard T-shirts to prom dresses. Most shoot for squarely in the middle. Good news is, we cut out the “I have nothing to wear” excuse for those who are on the fence about attending.
Who is coming from my class?
We can’t tell you. What we can tell you is it looks like attendance will be historic levels, in this, our fourth All-Years reunion. The beauty of LSHS and our Arboretum Village is everyone pretty much knew everyone growing up. So the All-Years format is perfect because not only are you bound to run into classmates, you’ll also see people from classes surrounding yours, your friends’ younger siblings whom you tortured, and your friends’ older siblings who you thought were cool. And they’ll be glad to see you now that we’re all grown up.
What Can I Do to Help?
We pretty much have things wired tight. BUT, if you really want to help, be an advocate for attendance among your sphere of influence. Siblings, relatives, former classmates, teammates, friends and neighbors who are LSHS alums. One way to ensure a good time is to plan a gathering AT the reunion. We are counting on you to rally your troops and c’mon down to Rockin’ the Foundation!
Can I bring a guest?
Yep, every alum can bring one guest. You must warn them, however, that they will be severely disappointed…….because after spending a night with the Lions they’ll realize their high school never puts on something as incredibly cool as an All-Years Reunion
What if I don’t look the same as I did in High School?
Ha! Then welcome to a very, very large club. What you’ll find is nobody cares and a whole lot of people will be very happy to see you.
What if I Skip this one?
Countless alums have said, “you know, I wasn’t going to go to the All-Years reunion (previous three), but I am so glad I did. I had the best time”. So there you have it. You’ll be forced to endure the remainder of this decade full of regret. We don’t know when the next one will be, but it’ll be at least four years from now. So consider this document a public service announcement.
Okay, okay already, I’m going. Anything else going on that weekend?
Excellent. Glad we pretended you asked. The weekend kicks-off with Alumni Night at the Lions football game. Friday, October 6 at Benedictine. We honor all military alums with a ceremony down on the field, plus a halftime tribute to the ’72-’80 football teams that strung together 59 consecutive conference games without a loss. Saturday, October 7 there are school tours in the morning, plus an 80th birthday photo session with Carlin Nalley at Wilde Field. The photo op gathers Coach Nalley’s former players, staff, and associates for a “team picture” one for football, one for track. What better gift to give The Coach on his 80th than these photos? Anyone who ever played football or ran track under Da Coach, needs to “Get in the Picture”. Plus anyone who helped coach, manage, or played a part in football and track meet productions should plan on attending. Then it’s off to BaseCamp Pub (Formerly Four Lakes Pub) for our first-ever Alumni Rockfest! Lisle has a rich garage band history so we’re celebrating those who drove their parents and neighbors crazy while making some pretty terrific music. Then of course, the weekend is capped by Rockin’ the Foundation, the All-Years reunion, in this LSHS’ 60th Anniversary year. Saturday night, October 7 at the Krasa Center at Benedictine University (formerly IBC, formerly St. Procopius College).
(NEW!) So after attending Alumni Night on Friday at the football game, hanging out all night Friday with my Lisle chums, then touring schools on Saturday, before taking pictures with Coach Nalley, followed by hitting the Alumni Rockfest at BaseCamp, I suspect my dogs will be barking. So the thought of parking and walking to the Krasa Center Saturday night is discouraging. Is there any chance you’d have valet parking?
It’s been a long time since P.E. class and there is no extra credit for hiking, so the Nalley Foundation has indeed arranged for Valet Parking for the first time at an All-Years reunion. Just pull up at the Krasa Center, west door, and you’ll see the valet stand. BU parking can get crazy, and once the closest lots are full, the remaining parking is further from Krasa. Even though we’ve ordered up spectacular weather, we can spare you a walk from the outer lots. There will be a fee, since the Foundation will be charged, but it’ll be nominal. But we’re happy to do it, even though the Valet Service forced us to cancel the trick ponies and the ventriloquist due to budget concerns.
Wow….so is all this on the website?
It is! We are right around a month away so keep checking in at www.carlinnalleyfoundation.org and PLEASE help us by taking the time to forward email announcements, encourage alums to check in at our website, and get registered ASAP. You can imagine this is quite a production and we have to make guaranties to Benedictine.
YOU are part of LSHS’ rich, sixty-year history. You should plan on attending Rockin’ the Foundation and any of the activities that weekend, surrounding the big party Saturday night, October 7.
Where does the money go?
The Carlin Nalley Foundation is pleased to present the All-Years Reunion and Alumni Night as part of our mission to keep LSHS alums together and honor those who bring honor to all of us. From the military alums gathered each Alumni Night football game, to the faculty and alums in whose names we grant our scholarships to outstanding LSHS seniors. To date the CNF has awarded around $140,000 in scholarships in our 15 years of existence, with plans to expand over time. At this, our fourth All-Years reunion, your tickets will raise some money for our cause, but most important, renew our commitment to the people of our school years and generate the mojo to soldier on and continue to service our mission.
