Growing up a member of the Lisle community gave me an identity I have always been proud of. I know that those of us lucky enough to have lived our entire young lives in this special town feel closely knit to one another. That was evident when Mike Petry (LSHS ‘80) started the “Remembering Lisle” website decades ago that drew hundreds of us from around the country to share stories, photos, and remembrances. There was a need for us to stay connected. Facebook grew those numbers, and then the Carlin Nalley Foundation created opportunities for us to gather in person to reconnect, share, and reminisce. Through those opportunities, we are able to not only honor and support the educators who impacted us, but to pass our support along to the young Lisle Lions who continue to succeed and inspire us with their talents, skills, and lofty goals. This is money well spent. That same grounded learning I received at Lisle High School which allowed me to be a leader, a performer, and eventually an involved citizen -- is flowing through the veins of students throughout District 202 and Lisle High School. It’s no wonder that my wedding colors back in 1988 were blue and white and I’m surprised I didn’t also have a lion mascot on my cake top too. No matter how far away I am, my blood will always bleed BLUE as I am a forever Lisle Lion!
