Remember, the reunion is what YOU make it, so we ask that each of you encourage at least two other Lisle alumni to attend the reunion, which will make the night unforgettable!
Together Again, the Carlin Nalley Foundation’s Fifth All-Years Reunion is weeks away and it’s generating several questions and even a few concerns. We’re answering them here!
I DON’T DRINK That’s okay. We understand there’s some teetotalers among the group. That’s why our base registration fee is $45. You won’t pay for booze you didn’t drink. Non-alcoholic beverages are available as a cash item all night long. Your fee will include the casual food items available all evening. Plus, the music, activities, and your chance to party. All the fun is our gift to you! IS DINNER SERVED? No, but there’ll be snacks throughout the night, then some more substantial late-night chow to soak up the libations. We’ll roll out some creative food options to fuel the final few hours of the bash. I SEE I CAN GET DRINK TICKETS UP FRONT. CAN I BUY MORE? You bet. Drink tickets will be available all night. In fact, we’re going to have a pair of official specialty drinks to Lion-ize the party! So no fear, your whistle will be wetted through the wee hours. WHO HAS REGISTERED FROM MY CLASS? Well, we really can’t give out that info, including the fact our registrations change daily. So here’s a request. BRING your classmates with you! Remember, YOU PLUS TWO. We’re counting on it. The beauty of our All-Years format is you’ll run into plenty of people you know from outside of your graduating class. But all LHS alums are ambassadors for TOGETHER AGAIN! Your mission is to get the band back together and plan to meet at the Lisle Hyatt on October 15! I DON’T DO REUNIONS If we had a dollar for everyone in the past four all-years events who said that, came anyway, and had the time of their life, well…..we could probably lower our admission price for this one! “I almost didn’t come, now I’m so glad I did,” is a popular refrain. WILL THERE BE ENTERTAINMENT? Alumnus Ken Modaff (’72) and alumnus mom Stefanie Brinegar (mom to Justin and Josie, LHS ’18) and the Call me Jo Band kicks off the evening in the main ballroom. Two hours of rockin’ it out. Call me Jo plays their final song around 8:00 before jetting off to open for the Stones (okay, maybe that isn’t true) a DJ will take over and the dance hall is open. It’ll be loud and wild! HOWEVER, because we have the entire ground floor of the Hyatt, there’s copious amounts of space away from the crazy’s so you can talk and yuk it up with your pals from LHS without having to shout. I SEE EVERYONE I WANT TO SEE OUTSIDE OF REUNIONS ……Until you come to an All-Years reunion and realize a few need to be added to your speed dial and inner circle. IT’S AT A HOTEL SO DO I GET A BREAK ON THE ROOM? Yup. The Hyatt is offering a special rate for LHS partygoers. Simply call the Hyatt at (630) 852-1234 and tell them you’re part of the Lisle alumni block and plan to stagger to your room in the wee hours. On our website you’ll also notice a place for you to register for a party and pass-out package (we don’t officially call it that, but you get the gist). The package is room, drink tix for two, and a little sponsorship of the evening, plus our undying gratitude! I HAVE PLANS THAT NIGHT. Welp, if they’re local how ‘bout the best of both worlds? Do your thing until your thing is done, then head to the Hyatt. Food is coming out after 10 or so, bar closes at 2 am…..and you can get a room upstairs. Sounds like a doubleheader to me! WHEN IS THE NEXT ALL YEARS REUNION? October 15, 2022. See what I did there? Subliminal messaging. That IS our next all-years reunion. The message is to be at the Lisle Hyatt this October. No time like the present! I HEARD THE ALL-YEARS REUNIONS ARE FOR OLD PEOPLE Hey there pal, watch it. Ever see the movie “Woodstock”? That generation INVENTED big parties. We guaranty plenty of alums from the 60’s and 70’s will close-down the bar at 2 am. Still, if you’re the class of ’99, ’09, or ‘19 we don’t expect you to want to party like it’s 1959. The Hyatt is ENORMOUS, and we have every square inch of the ground floor plus the indoor party tent so you can hang with the alums from your era in whatever corner you carve out. Just know the ballroom will be rocking with Lions. Hope you can keep up. I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR. Well, we draw the line at nothing, but beyond that wear whatever! We’ve had prom dresses to gym shorts, three-piece suits to sundresses. Jeans, T’s, evening gowns. We’ve even had some where white slacks despite it being after Labor Day. Nobody cares what you wear. Or what you do, or what you failed to do. Or that you look older than you did in the yearbook (Spoiler alert: you’re not alone). Or that you put on a few (see previous spoiler alert). We’ll miss you and that’s worse than showing up in your SpongeBob Onesie or Daisy Dukes. SHOULD WE PIGGY-BACK OUR CLASS REUNION WITH THE ALL-YEARS REUNION? Yes. A very good idea. And we can help you publicize through our website and all-years reunion correspondence. Every all-years reunion included groups that met for dinner then headed to the big event en masse. And “REUNIONS” come in many forms. + Class Reunions + Family Reunions + Team Reunions + Cast Reunions + Neighborhood Reunions + 1973 Student walk-out reunions (okay, maybe that’s a stretch although it actually happened) Contact Jay Grochowski, Nalley Foundation Director at [email protected] and let’s put our heads together. WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP? YOU PLUS TWO…. Push, prod, cajole, shame, brow beat, whatever it takes to encourage others to meet you at “TOGETHER AGAIN” In a crazy world of uncertainty one thing is for certain. Our little town and the people of our school days are a sight for sore eyes. So, start by signing up. We’ve made it uber-easy via our website. It’s also your home for all the key information so check back daily. Then find two more people and have them find two more of their own. YOU PLUS TWO, rinse and repeat. If something comes up, we’re not going to keep your money so it’s fully refundable. Hey, we went to school together, so we’ve got your back. SUMMARY REGISTER NOW and talk it up for the next two months. The Nalley Foundation will rock the foundation of the Lisle Hyatt October 15, 2022, 6:30pm til 2:00 am.
Photos Needed - Upload to the Shutterfly Shared Photo Album!
In order to gain momentum for the reunion, we are hoping to utilize your best high school photos to promote AY5 on our social media pages--this includes yearbook photos, athletics, homecoming events, prom pictures, sports teams, musicals, etc. Therefore, please upload photos of your favorite high school memories to this shared Shutterfly album here: https://lislealumniphotos.shutterfly.com/pictures. Please create a new album titled 'Your name and graduating year', for example, Rachel Birkley, 2013. In addition, these photos will be compiled into a slideshow and will be projected the night of the reunion, so you can reminisce (and hopefully laugh a lot) all night long. ?
What is a Wine Pull? (General Description)Also known as a wine grab or cork pull, a wine pull is typically set up, so a guest pays from $15 to $25 to bring home a mystery bottle of wine. The actual value of the bottle could range from $20 to more than $100. The bottles are pre-wrapped, so the label doesn’t show, and all bottles are displayed together on a table or in an attractive wine wall display. To ensure everyone has a fair chance to win big, guests can choose their own pre-wrapped bottles, or you can create a basket of numbers for guests to draw from that correlate to bottle numbers.
We are looking to acquire 100 bottles of wine for the Wine Pull. If you could help us out in any way that would be very much appreciated If we have 100 bottles and each bottle goes for $25 at the Reunion, we will raise $2,500. I appreciate you thinking about donating to us. Below is the copied text from Rachel's earlier email with the details of the minimum value for the donation. We will take one bottle, one case or more. You can reach out to her or myself. Accepting $20+ Wine Bottle Donations! During the reunion, we plan to host a Wine Pull, which will serve as a fundraiser for the Foundation. Attendees can purchase a ticket to participate in the wine pull for $25 and will select a wrapped bottle of wine which will be guaranteed to be worth between $20 - $100+, meaning everyone who participates is a winner! In order to make this fundraiser a success, we are asking for wine donations of bottles that are worth at least $20 or more. If you are able and willing to donate a bottle(s) or know of other alumni/friends willing to donate a bottle(s), please feel free to respond to this email or call/text Rachel Birkley directly at (630) 607-2077, so we can coordinate a day/time for drop-off.
At the reunion, we plan to display various forms of Lisle memorabilia in the "Lisle Museum". If you have any Lisle memorabilia, including band uniforms, yearbooks, letterman jackets, graduation caps, sportswear, prom dresses, etc., that you would be willing to LOAN the Foundation for the AY5 display, please let me know by responding to the form.
The Call me Jo Band (www.callmejoband.com) has been inked to open “Together Again”, the All-Years Reunion on Saturday, October 15 at the Hyatt Regency- Lisle. The band takes the stage for a two-hour gig in the expansive Hyatt among a throng of Lisle alums and their guests
That’s “fellow” alums. Celebrating his fiftieth high school reunion with his LSHS classmates while leading his bandmates is Ken Modaff (’72). He is the oldest of the uber-talented and musical Modaff family (Lisle’s Von Trapp family) and still playing after all these years. Rumor has it, a sibling or two of Ken’s may join him for a number or two or more during the gig. Ken is excited to be part of “Together Again” and will have the place rocking for a couple hours starting at 6:30 as partygoers arrive and the libations begin to flow. But Ken isn’t the only band member with ties to LSHS. Lead singer Stefanie Brinegar is mom to twins Josie and Justin Brinegar who graduated from Lisle in 2018. Powerful vocals, Stefanie can flat-out sing from Benatar to Pink, the Stones to Journey and much, much more. Following Call me Jo Band a DJ will rock the reunion until midnight, the party rolling until the lights come up at 2 am.
We’ve fielded requests, offers to help, and suggestions from the past all-years reunions and created a menu of options for “Together Again”, the fifth all-years reunion taking place on October 15 at the Hyatt Regency-Lisle.
Thanks to the wonders of modern technology and on-line registration we’re able to expand our offerings to better fit the wishes of attendees. Here’s a breakdown, a nice menu of options for all partygoers. THREE TICKET OPTIONS (Each drink ticket is good for mixed drinks, beer, or soda pop)
TWO SPONSORSHIP OPTIONS GOLD
A big thank you to each of you and especially those who choose to give that little extra in the form of sponsorship. See you October 15! What to expect when you walk into "Together Again" Lisle reunion Saturday Oct. 15, 2022, at 5:308/17/2022
It starts with live music!
When check-in begins at 5:30 for “Together Again”, Ken Modaff’s (’72) “Call Me Jo” band will be warming up. At six p.m. the music and the fun begin. Instant atmosphere. The Lisle Alumni Carlin Nalley Foundation is so pleased to present our fifth “All-Years” reunion and the Hyatt Regency-Lisle is the perfect spot to host such an immense, loud, fun, and long-overdue party. Call Me Jo will play for a solid two hours then after a short break; DJ Marc Poise takes over and plays hits that span the decades. The main ballroom will rock from six p.m. until midnight. For those looking for a quieter spot to talk, joke and catch up with fellow alums and their guests, three large rooms, an enormous number of common areas and a full party tent will provide plenty of space and lack of decibels to catch up on life. Throughout the night there’s snack food, a late-night food roll-out, drinks, a pair of specialty drinks, and non-alcoholic refreshments to make sure everyone is covered. Too much consumption? The Hyatt has a room rate of $109 for LHS partygoers. Stay all night (the party ends at 2 a.m.) and stagger to the elevator. The safest and cheapest public transportation. Along with the music, drinks, and food, there’s a photo booth, wine pull, LHS museum items, and more. Plus, hours of catching up with the people from our small town and close-knit high school days. You simply can’t miss it. The Nalley Foundation is proud of our work and proud to bring all of us together. Sixty-Four years of LHS graduates and their guest make this format so incredibly unique and special. The most common response we get from first-time attendees is “I can’t believe I almost blew this off.” See you Saturday, October 15 at “Together Again”, the fifth “All-Years” reunion. A variety of ticket options, costs, and registration details can be found at www.carlinnalleyfoundation.org. The Foundation worked hard to present options that makes the night incredibly affordable and fits all budgets and wishes. Your attendance is the most important thing to the Nalley Foundation board. You…and we…will be so glad you joined in. Please spread the word. by, Jay Grochowski, Class of 1977 |
