The Dr. John Mulcare Award: Outstanding Science Student Mulcare Scholarship was created to honor the top science student in the name of Dr. John Mulcare, an outstanding science educator at Lisle from 1965 to 1993. At Lisle, he taught chemistry and physical science. Along with teaching, he served as the National Honor Society sponsor until his retirement. In addition, he was a class sponsor, the Science Club advisor, and an assistant drama director. In 2014, the Carlin Nalley Foundation began providing a scholarship for an outstanding science student in the name of Dr. John Mulcare. Former Lisle High School Principal Pete Sullivan stated that Dr. Mulcare’s outstanding teaching method included hands-on labs and demonstrations and his continuous challenge to observe and think critically through complicated problems. We also remember how much he cared for his students, insisting on kindness and full engagement in his classroom. Click to read: A Tribute upon Dr. Mulare’s passing by John Bartels. |
