Announcing the “Future Business Leader” Award & $4,500 Scholarship for Lisle High School seniors.12/27/2024 December 27, 2024 – Lisle, IL – In response to requests by Lisle High School seniors for a scholarship to further their business education, the Carlin Nalley Foundation Board voted to add its tenth scholarship, the “Future Business Leader” Award and Scholarship.
“We learned about the need for the FBL Award during a tabling event at LHS in the spring of 2024. CNF Directors Rachel Birkley and Karla Modelski reported that numerous students inquired about a business award, which we could not fulfill,” shared CNF President John Bartels. Simultaneously, Lisle High School’s 2019 Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient, Mr. Hobart L. Epstein of the Class of 1974, felt a need to give back to Lisle, offering to support a business/finance career path scholarship through CNF. Hobart Lee Epstein has had a significant career in South Korea, holding various leadership positions in investment banking and securities companies. “LHS had a significant impact on my life. I want to share my business and finance experiences by mentoring aspiring LHS students,” said Hobart Epstein. LHS will administer the award through the creation of an application and selection process with at least a dozen applicants expected. “The school believes this new scholarship will support and encourage the growing number of students who aspire to become business leaders,” said LHS Principal Eric Martzolf. Jennifer Zimmerman, LHS's assistant Principal of Student Services, noted, “I was impressed with how effective Rachel and Karla's interaction was for the students. LHS, we are excited to have the CNF board return for CNF scholarship tabling with the seniors, not once but twice!” Now that is teamwork, making the dream work! ### Lisle Alumni,
As I reflect on 2024, I am very grateful to all of you who have joined the mission of the Carlin Nalley Foundation over the past two decades. Through your partnership with CNF, we provided nine $4,500 life-changing scholarships to Lisle High School Seniors this past spring. CNF has now awarded nearly 100 scholarships to the benefit of Lisle Families’ lives. Thank you so much for being part of this rewarding cause. Your donations are supporting the students in our hometown, delivering a direct impact on their futures. You don’t have to take my word for it. I have selected a couple of our scholarship recipients’ replies to you. “The scholarship from The Beverly Fiore Dramatic Arts Award will help to relieve the financial worries that come with attending college. The University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign has a great program for environmental sciences. I was very interested in attending the school and now I can. This award will lessen the worry about the cost of the program. I am extremely grateful for the amount that has been awarded to me. Thank you, Lisle Alumni!” ---Anika Mutum, 2024 Fiore Award winner “I’m very grateful for receiving the Ralph King Vocational and Career Education Award, and being able to go to school full time, without having to worry about working full time during the school year. The award will help fund my tuition, books, and extra will go towards the tools I need for the automotive classes. I would like to thank the Lisle Alumni for giving me this opportunity. I hope that I can be a good example for other future scholarship awardees.” ---Jackson Cates, 2024 King Award winner “I would like to thank all of the contributors to the Ron Logeman Educational Leadership Award and scholarship. I am very grateful for this opportunity and will not let it go to waste.
